Cost per mile, truck by truck
What each truck earned, what it cost to run, and whether the difference is worth having, with any gap in the data said out loud.
Step by step
- Open Cost per mile. Choose From and To and press Show period.
- By truck shows each truck’s Miles, Earned, Cost, Cost / mile and Margin / mile, thinnest margin first. Click a truck’s number for the full breakdown.
- Check Confidence. Complete means the main costs are on file. Overstated means something is missing, so the margin looks better than it really is; the note under it says what.
- Add fixed costs under Record a cost: choose the Truck (or leave The whole fleet), What for, How often and the Amount, then press Record cost.
- Repairs, parts, tyres, tolls, parking, lumpers and towing come from receipts filed under each truck in Company expenses. Fuel comes from Fuel. Driver pay comes from settlements, so loads not yet settled count as missing.
Costs you add appear under Costs on file, where you can Remove one.
Set up first
Fixed costs such as insurance and the truck payment, entered once.
Worth knowing
- A truck with missing miles shows the gap instead of a number that looks right.
- Cost per mile: each truck’s miles, earnings, costs and margin per mile, thinnest margin first.
- Open a truck for the full breakdown.
