The quarterly IFTA worksheet

Miles and gallons by state become the worksheet your filer needs, with the due date on your dashboard.

Step by step

  1. Open Fuel. Under Import a card statement, choose the CSV you exported from your fuel card account and press Import. Importing the same statement twice is safe.
  2. If Fuel to check appears, a driver’s receipt and a card line may be the same fill-up. For each pair press Same purchase or Different purchases, so the gallons are counted once.
  3. Open IFTA. It opens on last quarter; use Open that quarter on the banners to move between quarters. Read anything under Check these first.
  4. Add the miles driven in each state. Under Record miles, enter the State, Miles and Where from and press Record. Or press Trips, load your ELD’s state mileage report under Import from your ELD or use Record a trip, then press Confirm on each trip.
  5. Read By jurisdiction: Miles, Gallons bought, Gallons burned and Difference for each state. The banner shows when the next return is due.

When no ELD is connected, drivers send trips from Trip log; they appear on Trips for you to Confirm. This page is a worksheet, not a return: check it against your ELD’s own report before you file, and file the way you normally do.

Set up first

State miles (from Samsara, Motive or the trip log) and fuel by state.

Worth knowing

  • The worksheet is for your filer; you still file with your base state.
  1. IFTA opens on last quarter, with what to check first.
  2. By jurisdiction: miles, gallons bought, gallons burned and the difference for each state.
